Why Presentation Skills are necessary for IT Professionals and Students?
January 15, 2007
Presentation Skills. It was at the University of the Immaculate Conception that I first heard that their was such a subject named Presentation Skills. The first thing (or was it the second?) thing that came into my mind is "Why do we need to study this?", I mean having to learn Programming is quite understandable but Presentation Skills? Skills to Present something? Its not like our Program can’t speak for itself.
But then again, I already had the answers to those questions. Presentation skills, is not just only skills to present, but also skills to make a presentation. Who could ever want a program that is multi-colored and isnt pleasing to the eyes? Presentation skills can be used to make a good communication to the client.
Now, its time for the question of "Why Presentation Skills are necessary for IT Professionals and Students"?
Presentation skills, as I had said, is not only the skills to present but also the skills to make a presentation. Presentation Skills for IT professionals are badly needed, since when making and selling programs, websites or any thing IT related, you need to make those things pleasing to the eyes, or else their client will probably back-out from their deal. What kind of client will accept a visual program that has a yellow background and white text?
Presentation skills for student is also quite needed, since the students now will become Proffesionals next time, so, the first steps on Presentation skills will depend on the students life. In the student’s studies, having presentation skills in making a project or having a report is really important, it requires presentation skills for a student to be able to pick the right font to use (readable and neat).
