Wanted Leader: Men or Women?

January 31, 2007

Do Men really make better leaders than Women?
Does Women have what it takes to be a leader?
Why are leaders mostly Men not Women?
If Women > Men as a leader will that make Men = NULL as a leader?

Those questions had been raised through out the time. All except for the fourth one maybe, I made that up. Now, those questions leads to the one simple question that composes of 5 words which haunts many ask sites and essays (and probablly blog posts): Wanted Leader: Men or Women?

Now, as researched in "Ask" sites, like ask.com and Yahoo! Answers, It gave me this pretty simple but challenging phrase for the said question.

That phrase goes something like this: Under equal opportunity I believe they both have the ability to lead with their own strengths. And yet, in light of this question I also have to say that I believe a woman has the skills necessary to persue an issue with more force than a man on the basis that a woman is usually the last to let anything go, be it the last word or a fruitful debate. And when in doubt, a woman will fight with everything in her to prove she is right when a man will walk away with the belief he is right and leave it at that.

Now, this is the time for me to comment that phrase by Hardly Blonde. Yes, equally Men and Women really have the ability to lead such things as country, fellowship or cult. Her next sentence really struck me, Women do fight for what is right in her belief, its just that, eventhough they think it is right, but really it is wrong, they still fight for it, leading to a really bad conflict on both sides. In the case of Men knowing what is right, it kind of feels really true, If men knows that the thing he believes in is right, then it will be right until someone will testify that it isnt, until then, it remains right: no stings attached, no buttons pushed.

But as researched more and more in Search Engines such as Google.com and Yahoo.com.

I found again another interesting fact about the two sexes being leaders. This time, it still focuses on women but with "un-supporiting" sentences.

The article goes like this: Well, I’m not really sure. I get asked that question a lot, and I’ve really been thinking about whether it’s even the right question. Is there some research that shows some stylistic differences? Yes. And again, by style, I mean not what’s inborn, but what’s developed.

One style is collaboration. Are women more collaborative than men? Well, there seems to be some evidence of that. There’s this idea that women use more words than men, which would lead to a different style of relationship because they’re more relational; they’re discussing more and trying to talk things out more than men. Recent research on the human brain provides some evidence that there might be biological differences. We know that men mostly solve problems using the right side of their brain, while women use both sides of their brain. But do we really know what that means? In truth, no, we don’t.

At some point, my guess is that we’ll have a better handle on it, and we’ll be able to say more decisively if there are real differences. I guess the way to put it is this: I’m not sure we’re ready for that question. Nor is it a question I think that’s going to get us very far. I think the better question is: In what way do we think that women’s and men’s leadership is different?
This one was by: Robin Gerber at Why can’t women be leaders too? found using Google.com.

Now, Ill just sum up my belief and understanding in that paragraphs. Men and women still have the potentiality to become leaders in different fields. Women have more abilities to show off that men, like collaboration or working together. Now, collaborating is done by a leader and members, not all women will be followed by men, its more of a men’s touch to become more collaborative. Know why? Men dont like taking orders from women, so read by an article somewhere on the net.

Well.. You decide. Men or Women?
Who cares? As long as their doing their job. And doing it well.

What’s your say on Elections 2007.

January 21, 2007

Honestly, I really dont quite have any idea on this election thingy this 2007, but I’ll try my best to take everything, thats connected with elections, from my mind. So, Lets start. Elections 2007… 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. Start..

Elections really dont quite comes on my mind, since Im still minor and Im still not ready for elections. Every election is just the same, Politicians running in their desired seats, promising something that is "Good to be True", having famous singers do them a jingle, and lastly "cheat" or maybe not.

But, for me, this Election 2007, might be one of the most talked about elections. Just now, eventhough its still not elections, many news had been brewing up on our television screen: *Put Politicians Name Here* will not run on the 2007 elections.. *Put Politicians Name Here* will run as a *Put Desired Seat Here*, according to *Politician’s Enemy Friend*.. Though, some may say its true. Some will say its not.

Elections this 2007 will be a good start for the Philippines to cope up with technology. Cellphones will be a medium for OFW’s to vote even when they are away from the country. Though, this kind of style might be a good way to cheat, I mean, Computer can be hacked and data could also be changed. Oh Well.. Philippines on the works.

Lets just hope and pray that everything I said on this post will not happen. I hope.

Just an extra for this post.

Lets just wish that King Solomon would be the one who will pick the best for the positions. Just comment if you dont get the picture.

Most Valuable Thing?

January 19, 2007

My Most Valuable Thing. Before I made this post, It got me thinking on whether we post a thing, gadget or people. But then again, I asked my teacher on what his instruction really is.

But, then again, our teacher told us that we can say anything that we have that is valuable to us, whether gadget, thing, or people. That where I came up with this new post (I combined all the topics: Gadget, thing and people)

Now, my most valuable thing is my family and friends, know why? Because, they are the people responsible of what I am today. It was my family, they were the people responisble for my being today. They were the ones who fed me and made me of what I am today. They were the ones who loved me and cared for me that I will still be alive today. So, how can I not value them?

My Family are the ones who molded me as I am today. They were my first teachers, my first friends and my first love (next to God of course). This people are my most prized and valued possession, I would never exchange them for anything, even with a 30-year supply of Free Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner Buffet at a very expensive 5-star hotel, NEVER.

My most valuable gadget to date is my cellphone. Specifically, my Nokia N70, why? This cellphone was given to me by my parents, and its the one of the cellphones that I have in which, I didn’t buy it with my own money, because since second year I started to work during summers and used that money to buy a cellphone. I’m not kidding. Further more, this cellphone has helped me a lot with my studies and learnings, with only its 64mb memory card, I stored a Bible - useful for Theology, Scientific Calculator - useful for Trigonometry and a Dictionary - useful for English and talking at the dean’s office.

My most valuable thing is my Bible. What can you expect for a Pastor’s kid? I mean, honestly, I don’t read it everyday nor I bring it to school, but it is still my most valuable thing. It was given to me by my dad during some Sunday worship, since I don’t have a Bible then. This had been a big help to me whenever I feel sad and lonely, since when I read it, I will find an answer to a question (Its kind of weird actually and I usually read whenever my parents scold me). I’ll stop here, since this is quite Theology-ish not Presentation Skill-ish.

Why Presentation Skills are necessary for IT Professionals and Students?

January 15, 2007

Presentation Skills. It was at the University of the Immaculate Conception that I first heard that their was such a subject named Presentation Skills. The first thing (or was it the second?) thing that came into my mind is "Why do we need to study this?", I mean having to learn Programming is quite understandable but Presentation Skills? Skills to Present something? Its not like our Program can’t speak for itself.

But then again, I already had the answers to those questions. Presentation skills, is not just only skills to present, but also skills to make a presentation. Who could ever want a program that is multi-colored and isnt pleasing to the eyes? Presentation skills can be used to make a good communication to the client.

Now, its time for the question of "Why Presentation Skills are necessary for IT Professionals and Students"?
Presentation skills, as I had said, is not only the skills to present but also the skills to make a presentation. Presentation Skills for IT professionals are badly needed, since when making and selling programs, websites or any thing IT related, you need to make those things pleasing to the eyes, or else their client will probably back-out from their deal. What kind of client will accept a visual program that has a yellow background and white text?
Presentation skills for student is also quite needed, since the students now will become Proffesionals next time, so, the first steps on Presentation skills will depend on the students life. In the student’s studies, having presentation skills in making a project or having a report is really important, it requires presentation skills for a student to be able to pick the right font to use (readable and neat).

PresKills. (^_^) ,v,

What to expect this 2007?

January 11, 2007

Last 2006 was quite a lot for me.
It was the time when my friends and classmates for 4 years in high school were going to graduate and go on to our separate ways and schools. It was the time when we first stepped on the halls of a college institution and became a full-pledge college student. It was the time when we first took a college class and ‘forced’ ourselves to be a college student. Those were really times that I can’t forget in my life.

This 2007, I think it would be a lot better for me, my friends and my classmates. Having known about the college life that we had faced, we would surely be quite fine nowadays. Now that we gained new friends, encountered new challenges, faced new teachers and acquired new grades, I’m sure we will be probably fine.

Regarding to subjects of the school and my schooling, I would entirely expect hardness and difficulty (same meaning?) in the subjects that I took up, since its nearing midterms and finals. Which means, its this year that I would take up my first ever summer class and then proceed to a new level, the 2nd year. (Whew,. But it is still an expectation)

2007 would be a new year with a new purpose for a new me. According to Chinese, it is the year of the Fire Me (Pig); and still according to them, the Chinese, this year would be a very unlucky year for us who were born in the Year of the Snake. But unlucky for them, is not for me because Im not Chinese and the only ones that I will listen to, to tell me about my now, is me, my family and God, whom I will give all my strengths to.

2006 in now long gone, and we can’t return it back. So, come on 2007, show us what you got.
